Rest in Peace, Denis Mahoney

From Denis’ Facebook Page:

By now many of you have heard the sad news of Tariq’s passing. He died peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the age of 52.

A memorial service for Denis will be held at La Grua Center in Stonington, CT on Friday, April 27, 2012 at 12:30pm. Everyone is also invited to a reception at Skippers Dock immediately following the memorial service. The La Grua Center and Skippers Dock are located very close to each other so you may park in either lot. Please allow a little extra driving time because Stonington Borough can be difficult to navigate.

Tariq, we are heartbroken and we miss you, but we are comforted that your legacy lives on through your art.

for the outlanders

hurricane irene august 2011 mysticwe lost power at 8am on sunday 28 august. after brunch on the grill, and certain that the waters had crested safely away from the yard and basement, we ventured forth.  mystic pizza was the only place open, serving coffee and slices. kids were jumping off the back end of a pick up truck into the flooded lot. our neighborhood got the electrical back in three days, but downtown was five, and others seven. no damage overall- just lots of grillin’ and lightsticks, and the radio.

Myth Building

These pieces were part of the ‘Myth Building’ exhibition that was hosted at the Hygienic Art Galleries back in 2008.  I call the work digital montage but its really just fancy collage work made possible by Adobe Photoshop (and inspired by the collage work of Rich Freitas that was featured in many of the early Hozomeen Press publications).  The works are all printed to canvas and stretched on frames for final presentation.
